PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency, George Grey, Esq , Lieut.- Governor andCommander-in-Chiel in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand, and its dependencies, and ViceAdmiral of the same, &c, &c. , WHERKAS by a Proclamation bearing date the 2iith day of April, 1845, it was proclaimed and declared that Martial Law would be exercised throughout that part of the Northern district of New Zealand, which lies around th - Bay of Islands, (including the said Bay), and within a circle of sixty miles in any direction from Russell, until the said district shall be relieved from the jurisdiction of Martial Law by public proclamation. And whereas fhe present circumstance* of the colony render it unnecessary that Martial Law should be longer etercised within the said district. Now I, the Lieutenant Governor do hereby proclaim and declare, that from atid after the first day of Febiuary next, the said district will be relieved from the jurisdiction of Martial Law. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Colony, at Government House, Auckland, this twent) first da) of January, in the Year of oiu Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty •ix.
