BAY OF ISLANDS.
There has been an arrival, — the Russell schooner* from the Bay of Islands, on Thursday. It was expected that the troops would commence operations on the 25th. The forces were very near to Kawiti's pah, and Nene's party were gone into the woods at the back of the pah. All the seamen that could be spared from the different; ships of war, had been landed to share in the operations, and altogether the force could not be less than fiteen hundred men, with several pieces of 'artillery, Kawiti appears determined to await the attack. There are thr.ee soldiers witn the lebels. , The Perseverance put into the Bay of Islands on her voyage from Sydney, and landed 28 fat bullocks, and 300 sheep, which were purchased by the Rev Archdeacon Williams, who is contractor for thn snpply of treat 'to the troops. The Pretoria had gone round t'j Jlokianga, to be ready in case of emergency, to assist the -etters in that district. The brig Louisa, sailed on Thursday, .with above- 100 rank- arid file, .sBth R.egt , for the Bay_-flf_LilanHs_— L'he JVaterlrlly > had not arrived at Norfolk Island when the Louisa left-, therefore she cannot be expected here for some little time. By private intelligence from India, we understand that orders had been received there, by the overland route from England, Tor the 17th Regt. to proceed directly to New Zealand-
