His Excellency the Governor sailed for the Bay of Islands on Sunday last, in the Hon. I2.LC.S. Etyhimtone. During the week there has been intelligence thence, but not subsequent to his arrival. The camp had been broken up,' and the troops, seven hundred in number, with three hundred seamen had reached within nine miles of Kawiti's pah. When the Elphinstone should arrive, it was anticipated that seamen from her and the Castor would join the forces, and active operations commence. It was reported that a steamer was seen in the offing from the Bay, but there is no authentic information of the fact. The Bandicoot arrived on Sunday last from HobartTown, and by papers and letters from that port we learn that the Ramities, barque, 700 tons. Captain A. Maclean, had arrived there on the 25th November from England, which she left on the sth August, and the English channel on the 14th, with the remainder of the 11th Uegt., and one company of Artillery, under command of Captain W. She brings but a very small mail, which was not delivered on our going to press. The Perseverance sailed from Sydney for Auckland on the 3rd, and conveys a large mail, she is supposed to have put into the Bay ofJslands.

Last night, an attempt of burglary was made on the store of Mr- Cretnay. The boy who sleeps in the store, on returning home about ten o'clock, was attacked within the building, while striking a light, by two persons, with, one . of whom he grappled and fell down the stairs. The burglars escaped by the way at which they had entered at the back of the premises.
