H.M. Steamer, Driver, Captain Hates, was to leave Hongkong; for New Zealand, immediately after H.M. Castor, frigate, which left that port 27th September. The Government brig, Victmia, was struck by lightning in Cook's Straits, on the 28th No* ember, the fore-top-gallant sail was burnt, and four men knocked down, but were uninjured. On Friday, the 28th Nor., at the Barrier Island twenty two sheep weie washed on shore, and a cask. The sheep were supposed to have been dead about twenty-four hours.

The Matilda from New Zealand, arrived at Deal on the loth July. The Chance from Sidney, arrived at Deal on the 12th July, having on board the Captain and eight of the aaw of the ISetherland, East Indiaman, vyhich was lost on the 29th May, al St. Paul's, from whence they were taken off the locks by the Chance. Four men were.drowned in the .quarter boat, eight left in the pinnace without provisions, and eleven were left on the rocks, as the wind and current were so strong, the boats could not reach the rocks again. The Lord Auckland from Sydney, arrived at Grpvesend on the 12th July. The Mid-Lothian from Sydney, was off Falinouth, on the Bth July. The Tfruquay, East Indiaman, with a cargo, value £50,000, was totally destroyed by fit c off the Cape de Verd Islands, on the 19th June, the ciew saved. She was bound lo China with a cargo of bale goodt. She was insured for £35,000. , The ship, Castle Eden, 930 tons, Barker, master, from London, on the 19th July, arrived at Hobart Town, on the 25th Oct., with Ordnance Stores for Sidney. Passengers, Lieut.-Colonel Bloomfield, Captains Moore, Cockburn and Senner j Lieutenants Brewer and Ball ; Ensigns Goode and Canliffe, Lieut, and Adjutant Uojd ; Quarter master, Grant; Surgeon, Hodley; Mr., Hanley, (clerk of the works), 27$ privates, 8 drummers, 13 corporals, and 20 sergeants of H.M. 11th regt.

SYDNEY. The Kauri Gum shipped from Auckland to Sydney in the Thomas Lordh&s been transhipped into the Mary and Ann, loading in that port for Liverpool. The cargo of the Vixen schooner, of Kauri Gum, from Auckland, has been transhipped on toaid the Uoogley for London. The George, barque, laid on for London, has 100 tons Kauri Gum on board. The Hindoo, barque, has 7 tons Kauri Gnm. The William Metcalfe, ship, lias 10 tons Kauri Gum on board. The brig Eleanor, 253 tons, lWacfarlane, master, arrived in Sydney, ,on the 15th November. Left the Downs 20th July, making the passage in 118 days, after an absence from Sydney, of little more than ten months. On the 13th November, the Union, from London, bound to Launceston, with female prisoners, wishing to speak the Eleanor off King's Island, being rather close, she carried away the fore top-mast studding sails, and stove in the starboard bulwarks of the Eleanor, and also several planks in her top sides. The Mid-Lothiam, Morrison, master, was advertised at London as the Post-office Packet, for the Ist October, for Sydney, and the Clarendon, as the packet for November.
