BAY OF ISLANDS.
The Vixen schooner arrived from the Bay of Islands on Tuesday last. There had been some slight skirmishing between Kawiti and Waka, in which a few lives were lost. The rebel Natives are increasing in number, and evince every disposition to renew hostilities. — They had come within two miles of the British camp, and fired vollies of musketry, as token of defiance. The troops were fortifying their position, by throwing up entrenchments. The Hazard sloop of war was cruizing in the neighbourhood of the* Bay, in order to fall in with any vessels from Sydney with troops, and prevent them coming on to Auckland. When further reinforcements arrive, we presume offensive operations will commence ; and we fear there will be yet some dreadful conflicts, unless our force is very much increased, before peace and tranquillity is established, j
