NEW PLYMOUTH.

Wesleyan Sabbath School Anniversary. — The fourth anniversaiy of the above institution was held in Courtney-street Chapel, on the 27th of April, last, when two sermons were preached by the Rev. J. Skevington, of Taranaki south. On the following day the scholars, about seventy in number, were entertained in the vestry, after which upwards of one hundred friends of the institution sat down to tea, which had been kindly provided gratuitously. A public meeting was held in the evening, Mr. J. U. Gledhill in the chair, when addressess j were delivered by the Revd. H. Hanson, and Turton (resident minister), Messrs. Edgecombe and Perry, and the Rev. J. Skevington, j of Waimate. The total donations at this an- j niversary, amounted to upwards of six pounds. — Communicated. [With much pleasure we give insertion to the above communication. The diffusion of sound learning and moral principles among the youthful class is essential in our native , jland, where instruction — both religious and scholastic, is easily attained ; in a colony like this, it is still more desirable, and every effort to such end is highly praiseworthy. — Ed.]
