5 | WAIT ON MR COATES. A deputation which waited on the Prime Minlster thjs morning urged the granting of better shipping facilities between the South Island and Australia. Mr Coates ,in reply ,stated that he realised the matter was important, I and the Government had decided to : set up a Parliamentary Commission I to take evidence and come to -a de_ f cision. j A deputation of about fifty waited | on the Prime Minister this morning, { asking that*a neiw post office should j be commenced immediately. It was pointed out that angrant of £20,000 ' for the work had been made in 1923. The Prime Minister's reply was to the effect that if the money were available *he work would be sone on with.
