I CONFERENCE AT PALMER STO-

PALMERSTON N, Last Night. At a conference of dairy factory delegates ihe chairman, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., announced that 248 delegates were present. representing 112 factories, with an ai^nua1 output of 24,060 tons of hutter and 22,613 lons of cheese. The following moi'ou was carried after a lengthy di:.cussion by delegates f.or and against the continuation of compuisory control and price-fixing: (1) That this conference believer, that thc first cssential in marketing New ZeaJand produce is the inaintenancc of the confidcncc- and'goodwill in the chief market. (2) That thc extreme policy followed by the Control Board is directly responsible for the loss of goodwill and heavy flnancial loss now facing thc industry. (3) That this conference reaffirms the protesls previously made^ against the enforcemcnt oi' the compuisory provisions of the Act, and defies ihe right of any body of men to take possession of our produce hy fore v in order to embark on a nazardous venture which has no precedeni in any part of the world; further that Parliament be called upon to repeal the compuisory provisions ' oi the Act. Delegates were appointed to place the views of the conference 'before the Control Board to-morrow, and later wait upon Mr Coates and the Minister of Agriculture.
