LIMERICK AND THE SYDNEY CUP.
— — ° ! Advices to hand from Australia make it quitc clear that the prospects of the New Zealand gelding Limerick in connection with the Sydney Cup are viewed in a highlypromising light and that he can he refcrred to as the actual favourite for the big race set down for decision at Randwick on Easter Monday. The impost (8.4) allotted lo Limerick in the Sydney Cup represents, according to the Austraiian scale, 51h over weight.for-age, so f that the Limerick gelding cannot be regarded as unduly favoured. Limerick's spring forra, in the later stage especially, was no doubt seriously affetfted by a foot trouble, and as a guide to the Sydney Cup it will be well to remember that he is included among the select number that defeated the doughty Windbag this season at weight-for-age. F. D. Jones, who has put Limerick through liis pacings, was credited with making the declaration last spring that it would surprise him were Limerick otherwise than a stayer.
