OAMARU LADIES' CHOIR.
THE OPENTXG MEETIX& A meeting of members and helpers of the Oamaru Ladies' Choir was held last evening at S o'clock in Holmes Hall to consider the formation of a local Choral Society. The prcsident heing unavoidablv a'osent, Mr C. W. Naylor occupied the chair, presiding over a fairly large number of enthusiastic prospective members. Thc unanimous opinion was expressed that in Oamaru there are so many good voices that little or no difficulty should he experienced in enrolling a large number for the j] f\v Society# capable of undertaking the great est choral works which, well performed." are always satisfactorv to the public taste. The motion of Miss Will's secondrd hv Mr W. H. Parker, that a Choral Society he formed in Oamarn was carried. unanimouslv. Then the hour was late and several of Inst venr's active members were unnvoiflablv ahsent. it was decided to hold a further meeting of all inierrsted next Monday evening at the snmr- timo and place to elect office bearrrs for the year and to decide unon a suitable work for the first coneert to be held as early as posdhle.
