METHODIST RESOLUTION.
WOULD RATHER TAKE CHANCES Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m. NEW YORK, March 25. The anual Methodist Episcopal Conference at Philadelphia adopted a resolution siating: "We should not let the protection of our missionaries be used as an excuse for ; continuing any kind of military control in China. Christianity, backed by guns, will never be very effective. If it is necessary to proi vide an asylum for missionaries and other American citizens for a j retrea't during civil war. well and good. Some of our missionaries, however, have voiced a protest against any such expediency. They would rather take their chanceV with the Gospel as their only protection.
