•WELLINGTON, Mrach m. At the evening athletic sports last night, Ro'se broke Hyde's Australasion record for three miles by 16 seconds, doing the distanee in 14 min 29 i-5sec. Earlier in the evening he ran the mile in 4min 34sec without extending himself. In the three miles Rose had outdistanced the field at 2$ miles, the pace being too slow for him.
