CHRISTCHURCH, March 24. The annual ram and ewe fair under the auspices of the Canterbury A. and P. Association opened to-day at the Showgrounds, Addington, before a very large attendance of buyers. Tlie entry comprised 3S20 floc. and 215 stud rams, together wit" 428 stud and flock ewes, as compa' ed with 5210 flock and 216 sti rams at last years fair. The diffe' ent breeds were represented in ti flock rams section as follows: Lincolns 5, English Leicesters 11! Border Leicesters 130, Roir.r Marsh 208, Corriedale 1527, halfh' 242, 5ferino 14, Studholme 211, K folk 3, Ryeland 34, Southdowns 3 Border Leicesters showed the greest falling off in numbers, being j hind last year's total by 661. T sale of flock ranxs took place ' day. There was a very fair sale • English Leicesters, wcll-grown well-conditioned sheep commandi: most attention and prices rane from 2igns to 9fgns, 5rr E. S. Tsr lor (Waipara) topping the saies, n1' 51r F. M. Young (Winchester) be'next with 9gns. Border Leicesle were dull of sale, only a few peof really good sheep exeiting mi" competition. Mr J. A.
