I v { Dr and Mrs Douglas left Oamaru ! yesterday for an. extended tour of I the United States, Great Britain and1 the Continent. They expect to he^ away for about nine months. ! Members of the commercial ^and literary staff s of the "Northi Otago ; Times" gathered round the stone on I Wednesday evening for the purpose I of making a presentation to Mr G. : Brown, whose marriage was solemI nised yesterday. On behalf of the i staff, the manager (Mr T. Doyle), i handed Mr Brown a handsome set of cutlery and at the same time conveyed the best wishes of« all. These remarks were supplemented by the editor (Mr P. C. Freeth) and Mr L. Brooker, the recipient suitably responding.
