A DARING MURDER. «rn .»!■»■■■■■ ■« \ Received Tuesday, 11.45 p.m. SHANGHAI, March 22. , Chinese newspapers report that 1500 houses were destroyed in the | native quarter by fire last night. • Shanghai is unwashed as the natives quitted the waterworks at daylight. Russian refugee residents are volunteering to restore the service. The trams, buses, and the majority of the public services remain idle. The strikers are estimated at two hundred thousand. Snipqrs are still busy. Plain clothes Cantonese guerillas penetrated a barricade at the northern district and murdered a prominent anti-uKomintang officer in cold hlood in the street of the international settlement this morning. They were pursued by soldiers and police. A street fight ensued .when . flying bullets wounded three civilians. The murderers escaped to Chinese territory.
