: The North Otago S.P.C.A. Committee met on Monday evening and considered the question of compul•jory de-horning of cattle held over from last meeting, resolving that the secretary be instructed to asceriain the attitude of the Timaru ;hranch with a view to taking unii form action. j . The inspector's monthly report was received. During the month cases of alleged cruelty to four horses were enquired into. All of these animals were now undergoing treatment with rest from work and ; were progressing satisfactorily. In ■ one case, that of a very aged anii mai, the owners had uhdertaken to destroy it, or pension it in the near future. Two dogs had been successfully treated for injuires caused by barley grass seeds. A third dog, the owner of which had been taken to hospital without being able to arrange for the animal, was at present being fed by netghbouring farmers, and being at large was able to get shelter and water at will. In all, seven cases had been ! . dealt with, and several more were j ! receiving attention.
