APPOINTMENT OF CORONER.
CTo The Editor.] I Sir, — It is to he hoped that tne , Stipendiary Magistrate, to whom it would appear lias been left the nomination of a suitable Justice of the 'Peace to fill the office of Coroner, will 'eschew political partizanship and recommend' Mr Frith, the Chairman of the .Tustice's Associalion, as the most fit and proper person to occupy the position. H»o has already filled the office of Mayor and I'm glad to see has allowed himself to be nominated as a candidate for a f'urther terni this year, and is likely to he elected, as unlike most local representatives, is not engaged in business pursuits and has therefore ample time. as well as inclination, to devote himself to the seri vice of citizens. His good lady who filled the difficult position as Mayoress during the war, with the utmost dignity, deserves the support of every returned soldier(, as she spent most of her time in unostentatiously ministering to their comforts at the frorit and got scantier credit than many who did lesSj and had honour heaped upon them.
