FRENCH ARE GRINNING.
Th-e Italian Press sounds the same note, stressing that under no cirrumstances will Italy withdraw from the maintenance of international pledges. It points out that fortunately both the Albanian and Italian frontiers would be most unsuitable for warlike operations for more than a month, ancl expresses the pious hope that before the snows have melted Ihe px*esent difficulties will be dissolved. Meanwhile it is announced from Paris that the French Foreign Office, acttng on the Italian Note,. is taking diplomatic steps to avoid a rupture. As an ally of Jugoslavia France is able to bring strong pressure toCi bear. Shonld the situation develop Herr Stresemanh, in the capacity of President of the League Ccuncil, will be called on 'to sumxnon a special meeting. Already French wit sees the humour of a Gerrnan summoning a gather-ing with the idea of preventing a conflict involving '/mr nlly France."
