IMPORTED GAME BIRDS.
PARTRIDGES FROM HUNGARY. With Ihe object of improving the Btrain of garne partridges in its district, the Auckland Acclimatisation Society is taking steps to import 800 pairs of Hungariaii and 100 1 pairs of French, or red-legged par- j tridges from Hungary for Iiberation in its territory. It has commis?ioncd Mr D. Roland, formerly of Te Aroha, who is personally acjuainted with the district in Hungary from whieh these partridges are cxported, to select the birds during a business trip he is shortly maldng to Europc. and ship them from London or Southampton under the core of an emigrant Vvliom the H'ah Commisshmer, Sir James Parr, is to be asked to depute. It is expected that it will cosl alioni £500 to land the birds in Auckland.
