THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION. Matters municipal iiv AVaimate are beginning to engross attention. Tliere seems lifcfcle probability of a contest for tbe Mavoral cliair Tm'O names have been rmieli discassed as probablo aspirants, but one pnt it tliat tbe present Mayoft- was too hard a man to follow, and tbe otber wonld not oppose one whoin lie eonsideved tbe best man for tbe position. There will be vacancies in tbe ranks of Councillars, probably three cr fcur. Many names are mentioned to fill these vacancies, bnt so faS1 two candidates only are definitely annonnced. Mr C. E. Clark and Mr Geo. Joyce will be candidates. There is no special issne before the burgesses. The town has, xindet the administration of the retiring Ccamcil, made progress xvithout any inerease of rating. This makes for satisfaetion with those who have occnpied seats at the Council table, and if Conncillors liad all asked to remain in their seats and annonnced a ccaitinuation of their policy, there wonld not likely have •.^en any competition. .•K
