WAIMATE RACING CLUB.

[-Bpecial to Nortli Otago Times.]

CUP TO VAWARD

WAIMATE, Last Night. Brilliant sunshine favoured the opening of the Waimate Racing Club's annual fixture yesterday and a very large crowd viewed the excellent sport provided under ideal conditions. The trade was in splendid order and very fast. During the past twelve months the Club has carried out extensive improvements to tbe course which now compares very favourably with those of other provincial icentres. Under the capable supervision of the president (Mr E. C. d' Auvergne) with the detail work in the hands of the experienced secretary (Mr Albert J. Hoskins), the programme was completed without a hitch of any kind. The principal race of the day, the Waimate Cup, was again won by a representative of Mr J. M. Samson's stable, Vaward, this making the third time in succession that Mr Samson has captured the handsome trophy. The cup was presented by Mr d'Auvergue, who warmly congratulated Mr Samson on his triple success. The totalisator receipts amounted to £11,563 as against £12,157 last year.
