. LONDON, March 13. Weddel's review of the meat trade says: — "With every woman and child consuming an average of over 21b weekly. Britain is rapidly becoming the greatest meat-eating country in the world. The outstanding experience of 1926 is the capacity of the public to increase consumption immediately prices are brought low enough. So long as they remain at the present level the consumption demand will be suffi-. cient to absorb even heavier supplies than in 1926. The importation of frozen and chilled meat, despite trade depression, reached 930,035 tons, compared with 886,665 in 1925." The Review estimates ihe IJnited Kingdom consumption at 2,002,135, and points out that home-grown sheep have increased by one million yearly in the last three years.
