' LONDON, March 14. In the House of Commons Sir A. Chamberlain, in reply to questions said that the municipality of the in ternational settlement at Shanghai had not been asked and had not offered to pay any part of the cost of Ihe British defenice force. All the Powers interested made their own naval and military preparations at their own expense. He had not advised Sir Miles Lampson to discuss with the Soviet Gharge a'Affairs at Peking Russia's alleged breaches in China of • the Anglo-Russian trade agreement concerning propaganda. Mr Amery confirmed Press reports that seven Chinese were killed and 14 wounded, and one European inspector and four native policemen wounded at Singapore when a mob attempted to rush the police station. Mr Moseley : "Was warning given before firing?" " Mr Amery: "I presume so, but I have no information beyond the above." Mr Thomas Williams: "Will such action improve our relations with .China?"
