TRENTHAM, Last Night. The ax^my meeting concluded today in bxulliant autumn weather. The shooting was over the same ranges and practices as in the two stages of the Army Championship series, hut with five rounds additional at 600 yards, making the possible 100 points. Petty Officer P. H. Griffiths of H.M.S. Renown, who headed the list in the eliminating

stages, again came out on top with the fine card of 150 points. Gi'iffiths is one of the finest shots in the Navy, and for the past four years has been one of eight men chosen to represent the Senior Service in special matches at Bisley. He expects to be there again when the Renown returns home. Sergeant A. J. Howard of H.M.S. Diomede, who eame second, is not unknown at Trentham, as last year he ran close ro the winner. Neither Griffiths nor Howard is eligible for the honour of taking the medal, but they lift the monetary prizes attached to the position. Lieut. T. J. Denton, of the N.Z. Air Force. was third in the list, but being the highest. eligible, the medal honour of being New Zealand King's Medallist for .1927 fall's to him. Last year was his first army meeting, and he finished seventh. He has shot at several D.R.S. ancl' N.R.A. meetings and was introduced to .Trentham before the war. Petty Officer S. Clack, of the Renown, who occupied ninetyffi'st place at the end of the qualifying matches, got on a good score today that lifted him to fourth position. Counting out Lieutenants Canty and Cayzen with whonx he tied, E. J. Tindall, telegraphist on the Diomede, was another naval reoresentative to do well, coming 'rom sixty-sixth to eighth place.
