SYDNEY, Last Night. The Assembly is discussing the Metropolitan Milk Bill under which it is proposed that the Government shall create a board for the organisation and distribution of milk in the meti'opolitan area consisting of representatives of the producers and consumers, the former holding a majority on the board, which will have power to fix prices, allocate blocks for distribution, regulate ' transport, make a levy on milk for the creation of a fund, to acquire an yinterests that might be necessary, and raise loans against assets. Its duties also include the grading of milk, disti'ibuting sealed containers, eliminating wasteful unhygienic methods, and carrying out research relating to mi.lk and its products. In moving second reading, Mr Dunn, Minister of Agriculture said the value of the milk sold in Sydney was £2,200,000 annually, of whicli the producers got £800,000 and the retail vendors £883,000. The main purpose of the Bill was the regulation of the trade. The board would not go into the trade if the present organisations were brought up to the standard required. The present Bill was a challengc to existing organisations to perfect their methods.
