BOY SCOUTS.

i COiNoECRATION OF FLAGS. A parade of the whole of the Boy Scouts /of Oamaru took place at St. Luke's Hall last night when the flags of No. 1 Troop were consecrated by the Chaplain, Venerable Archdeacon Russell. The -parade was under the command of District Commissioner Kihblewhite, assisted by ihe officers of the various troops. The scouts were formed up in three sides of a square, with the « colours resting on a draped table. A number of parents and friends i were seated on the stage, and mem- : bers of the Troop Committee were | also in attqndance. " The proceedings were opened with prayer by the Chaplain, after j which the flags were solemnly conI secrated. The donor of the flags (Mr j F. Milner) then presented them to : the "colour party," and delivered j stirring address on the meaning of patriotism to the troop. The warrant for Assistant-Scoijt-master- was then presented to Mr F. Irwin, after which the parade j was dismisied. j The boys presented ia smart ap1 pearance and bore themselves well j throughout the whole proceedings, 5 and the various movements were | creditably executed.
