NEW YORK, March .9. Further disclosures in connection with the operations of "under cover" men employed to trap bootleggers has led to the dismissal of scores of indictments against violations of the prohjbition law on the ground that juries here are reluctant to convict ofFenders against whom the evidence has thus been collected. Sensational charges made by Congressman Laguardia disclosed that an ostensible perfumery house allegediy operated by the Government had made legal withdrawals of large quantities -of denatured alcohol and resold the poisoned beverage to hootleggers, whp redistilled it and sold it to the ultimate consumer. The perfumery house, said the Congressman, made a profit of one hundred thousand dollars in six weeks, and iurned the monev over to Government agents. The arrested hootleggers were concernr ed with these charges. The beverages, despite the redistillation, probablv caused many alcoholie deaths.
