AUCKLAND, March 9. Mr F. O'Donnel, aged 28, is in hospital with a, fraci:ure,d skull as the result of a collision between two motor cars driven by Godfrey Ohms and W. S. Panckhurst. Mrs O'Donnell was thrown out, her head striking the roadway. Last night her condition was reported as very serious, but to-day she had recovered consciousness and was improving. ASHBURTON, March 8. Edna Doris Argyll, aged three years and nine months, daughter of Mr M. Argyle, a motor mechanic, died in hospital this morning as the result of scalds received through failing into a low-built copper at her parent's residence yesterday afternoon. There was no one else in the washhouse at the time. ' NAPIER. Last Night. At an inqest on Harry O'Neill (59) of American nationality, a labourer, employed on the Public Works at- Waikaremoana who was killed in the railway yards last night, the Coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from shock following injuries. No blame was attachable to anyone. Evidently deceased had indulged too freely in liquor and went to sleep on the liiic.
