OPERA HOUSE.
"EAST LYNNE" — A REAL GEM. We have been hearing about j "East Lynne" for so many years , that it was with some curiosity we I visited the Opera House last liight ! when the William Fox screen version of Mrs Henry Wood's celebratecl old melodrama opened a twoday run. And what a surprise we received! For beauty, drama and humour this' production is one of the finest we have "seen in a long time. Emmett Flynn has taken this ; heart gripping piece of drama and i done it into a cinema attraction that ! is very worthy of the photographic j art. Subtlety, fine acting and visual I baeuty have been blended with excellent results. The picture has all , Ihe virile tensity of the original j work, with an added touch of humI our that helps it materially. Beau- ! tiful old-fashion gowns and a wonj derful setting of old England add i much to the production.
