Mr T. Duncan, M.U.R, introduced a deputation consisting of Measra Bart, Oikdon, Crawford, ftnd Pnton, in roferonce to obtaining a leaso of a portion of tho railway resorvo, containing 2 roods 4 porches, adjoining tho station at Fukeuri, as a site for n d-dry f-»otory. Mr Duncnn also complained of tho stato of the road at present leading to the elation, and urged that steps should be takpn to put it in repair. Tho Minister suggested that it would be more advisable for tho settlers to purchase an adjoining Bite, us ho did not think it wise to lease portions of railway resorves for any lengthened period, whilo on the other hand it would not be advisable to ortcb a costly faotory on a short tenancy. ljo promised, however, to inepect tho flite this morning, if somo of tho settlers would meet him there, tie would go into the matter on his rot urn to Wellington. RAILWAY FREIGHTS FOR MILK. Mr Duncan also brought up tho question of a reduction in tho railway freight on milk. Mr Cadm&n said, in reply, that the Government intended, aa far as passible, to miike various reduo ions in freight on produoo generally, nnd he took a note of the matter, promising to consider it in conjunction with many similar applications whioh had been nude to him.
