' It vas pointed out that tho Rimu goldfield would employ threo hundred more miners, with numerous others supplying them with timber, e'e, if the water supply was in* creased and a drainage race and sludge ohtnnel constructed. It was pointed out that gold miners were the consuming ?opulatioo, and largely assist industries, 'he majority of the speakers condemned the great neglect by the Government of gold mining, especially when auiattßce to an increasing mining population would prove of nuoh benefit to the country.
