TO THE EDITOR, Sin, — I notico jn this tvurning's paper a request for an explanation of the doluy in tho proceeding with Mio c toot ion of tho Pukeuri Dairy Factory, and, in reply, for th» information of shareholders, I may expUin that tho directors were informed that a suiiablo site at the Junction oould be obtained by applying to tho CJovornmout, which appiiotion wai at once made, and tor neaily two months no reply whatever was receivoJ. A reply then ctme offering the section, consisting of about half an acre, for Lll 10s rout per annum. Seeing th.it the capital value could not bo considered at over LIQ, this rent, of course, was exorbitant. We thon offered equal to 10 par cent of yearly rental on the value of tho land, viz., LI, to which again they replied to the effect that wo could have it for L 5, yearly rental, which we still consider exorbitant, and have been, for aomo weeks awaiting an interview with Mr Cadman (who hits beon expected hero daily)ip the hope of obtaining a reasonnblo arrangement. From the foregoing it will, therefore, appear that tho delay has boon caused by the procrastination of the Go- | rernment, otherwise the factory might, by this time, have been well on towards completion.
