Moßt of tlie witnesses called on one pay ia the Victorian Supremo Court og behalf of the plain till' in the action Greener v. Abrahams (referred to yesterday) had purchased guni from the defeudents, and displayed a singular lack of esteem for the firm. One of the witnesses flaid the gun he bought from the firm for LI S wouldn'b go off. He said, " You might just) as well point an umbrella." Subsequently ho stated that he exchanged it, and got from one of the defendants another gun, "or what he called a gun." Mr DutFy started off his cosß-exfuninotion of the witness with the significant interrogation, <l You're a good judge of guns, ar'nt you ? ' And the witoess cjnvulsed the court with the laconic reply, "I am now." Thon Mr DufFy wanted to know why he didnb exchange the second gun, and the witness ninde a witty retort that if he had continued the exchanging business with the defendants ho would have bad a pistol by this time. Another witness who purchased a gun from defendants for L 3 10d said ib shot very well, for the first time he used ib he killed a will cat. Nevertheless, he resold it to the defendants for LI Bs. A third witness who purchased a gun, which ho stated was branded ' Greener ' or 'Gwenier, 1 give ib to his brother, who ' shied ' ib overboard from a eteamer on his way to Queensland, Jeaab ib should hurb somebody. Counsel for the dofence sarcastically asked ono witness if he had heard of Judas. He replied in the affirmative, and Mr Furves. for the plaintiff, interjected, 11 But Judas was a Jew,"
