THE OTAGO COUNTIES.

Tho figures am taken from tho latest Governmont documonts, and aro therefore reliable. ReUtivly to tho other counties, Waitaki occupies tho most enviable position. Its area is considerably the largest, and i's cost of management is proportionately chotper than any of the others. Its rates are on tho whole lower than thoso of any other county, nild with two exceptions its liabilities aro the lowest, although relatively to its area thoy should bo tho higlust. Its assets •re twice thoso of the best-off of tho other counties, and eight times thosß of tho poorest. Taking everything into conoideration, W-»itaki is a model county, ably and cheaply Managua*, and tho satisfactory suito ot its aflura reflects credit on thoso who manage them.
