Kinson, photog'aplmr, pointed out) that while photographs on sensitised paper were admit ted for 15 per cent, the paper itself was subject to a duty of 20 per cent. The following telegram was received by Colonel Pitt yesterday from the Defence Minister : " The Hon. tho Premier nnd the Defence Minister, desires to disseminate through you his satisfaction at the energy, plujk, and endurance shown by all ranks in your command during the late Easter Encampment at Fielding, under tho unusual trying circumstances to which they were exposed, and his assurance hat ho feels that the troops who could so cheerfully submib to stress of weather, extra cost, shortness of sup plies, and want of ordinary campaign comforts would be equally as reliable wore their country aud their homos in danger.
