Thr^ were clambering about the trurks when the engine started, and the children (ell between the trucks. Mr Hall-Jones, M.H.R. for Timaru, addnssid his constituents tonight. He spoke chiefly on financial »nd Übor UgisUtion, expressing disapproval of the b*nk guarantee, and arguing that the 60called ldbor bills, except tho Fnctories Act, were as much in the interest of employers and capital as employees- Ho complained that tho original intention of the land settlements principle had not been carried out in providing foy small settlement*. A vote of thanks and confidence w*a passed. In the fatality at Pleasant Point the engine-driver was giving the children a ri<Je on the way to school, and told them he wuulJ stop and let them off, but deceased got oS while the trucks were in motion, and another in trying to save her got hurt also.
