AN APPEAL TO THE NEW WOMAN.

He but paints the scenes, we form the minds thut are to give color and life to those scenos. In our hands lies the the future. Are there none amougat us 'new women' to load a crusade against the evil of the day, ngainsb tho utter neglect of the training of tho children? Are thero none to go to the root of vice and crime, to etimp it out ero it) takes hold on the character t We all know that lnrrikinism is increasing ; that is, that our lads and lassies are losing all their purity and sweetness of youth. And we know, too, that among the lads who throng our streets solely, it seems, to annoy the passeng rs, are many of lespectable, nay, well-to-do parents. Their home has no attrajtion for them. Surely this is a sign of the times. The middle c'asses are aping the higher, the women endeavoring to live their own I lives as mistresses of their households and tho lives of the leaders of the fashionable world. They cannot do ib, something must go, Iheir children nre packed off to school as soon as they can walk and speak, The littlo things hardly know their mother. They will cry all nighb if nurso goea i way ; do l hoy cry if mother goes ? Now women, surely hero is a crusado for us !'
