Mr Honry Clark was to-day elected chairman of the Education Board. Tho fmil in the rink match in connection with the Oamaru tournmont was played on tho Dunedin groen to-day, when Sneddon'fl Kaituoa rink (27) do* foAtod Christie's T*ieri rink (17), and won the first priz\ Captain Russell addresstd a publio meeting nt tho Garrison Hall, which was filled. Tho Mayor presided. Captain Russell's speech was on similar lines to that in Christchurch. Referring to the Treasurer's absence, he said he doubted if imy Minister knew the real state of the finances. Mr Ward's vi-iit to Paris would bo one of pleasure first. Possibly he might then arrange a treaty of reciprocity with Paris, by whioh C4utorbury mutton and Southland oats could bo exchanged for French novelties and Parisian nicknacks. Captain Russell, who wan »pcordcd an attentive heiring, received a unanimous vote of thanks, coupled with an expression of pleasure at his spoiklng hare. At the meeting of the Grand Lodge, 1.0.G.T,, the report on tho Juvenilo Temple stited tint thero wqre 1300 mombors. Tho Gland Secretary reported that there were now 116 lodges in pood standing, with 2418 brothers and 1419 sisters us mombers. Mr R N. Adami w<*B elected Grand Chief Templar ; H. Taylor, Grand C >uncil)or ; and Sister Cameron, Grand Vico Templar.
