Mr K. P. Burbury (on bohalf of the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on the fortnightly stock sale as under : Sheep.— There was the usual attendance at the Junction Yards yesterday, and a slight y better tonu in the market wns noticeable. Fat ewes and butchers' sheep were decidedly in better demand, at a small advance on lute rates, and sheop suitable for putting on turnips, although extremely low in price, were disposed of with greater ease at slightly improved rates. Broken clown ewes, we are gl.d to say, were taken up for boiling down purposes Store lambs said in favor of buyers. Wo ynuled and sold as follows : 60 fat crossbred ewes at t>v 370 forward 2 tooth owes aud wethers at 7s 8d to 7s9d, 200 store 2 tootli crossbred e\\e-> and wethers at os 101 to 6s. CVttle. — There was a small entry of fut cattlo, and those forward were m good rejueit. Store ea- tie, however, are not so film, and there appears to bo a decided imprcsiion that they have been too dear. Good dairy cows found thoir usual demand, but old and inferior were difticult to place. Pigi,— No baconera forward, but a laige number of weaners were yarded, which sold nt 25 per cent less money than was ruling a short time back. We sold weaners at from 6) to 6s 6d. Country Sale. — We held u clearing sale on account of Mrs Paulm, at Ngupaia, on theOthinst., when there was a good attendance, and fairly spirited bidding was experienced. The dairy cows, all spiinging to calve, were a very nice lot, and elicited keen competition, realising from L 5 to L 9. The horses, implements, C^c., sold atfair rates. Wheat. — During the pait fortnight there ha* been very little wheat placed on the market, giowers being inclined to hold foi an impiovement in prices. Any offering finds ready sale at quotation*. We sold a mixed line of 5500 «ack« of ISM, IS9I, aud 1895 wheat, comprising velvet, Tuscan red chaff, Mold's Ennobled, and Green Mountain, at auction on the 3rd insUnt, at 'is 5d per bushel, ex store, Oamaru, sacks 4d. \\\ quote now wheat at 2s 5d to 2a o^d per bushel, O-imaru, and in some cases a shade moro is obtainable. O.i' a. — Business in this line is not on a large *cale.
