Port Underwood th»t two of the Union Company's steamers, one of which in supposed to be the Penguin, have put in there for shelter. The first boat put in at'l 30 yesterday afternoon. It was found impossiblo to hold the championship regatta to-day, and all tho events hive been postp >ned till tomorrow. The gale had blown itself out by midday, .md tho rain h.id also c'oircd o(F, but no racing boats oould have lived In the Beft which was running al<<ng the upper potion of thn course. The Wainui, from Nelson to Wellington, called in tin? morning, but cannot leave ngain until midnight owing to the heavy weather in the Straits. Tho Pio'on crew has scratched for the champion four 4 , in which Wellington will also probably h^ non-sUrterp. Auckland will otatt the favorites.
