The Molrose team (Wellington) played tho second match at Lancaster Park this morning against tho Sydenham Club, and after an uneventful game had a lncky win by a potted goal and a penalty goal (seven points) to two tries (six points). Winning the toss the visitors played with a strong wind behind them, and kept the. home team busy defending for most of th« spell. Ji Bush placed a goal from a penalty, and Warwick potted. In the second spell the visitors were continually on the defensive, but the homo teanj. through over e*gerness, lost a number q( opportunities of scoring, M'Arthur and Rees obtained tries, but neither eon* verted. The Swifts' Association Club (Wellington) played a match with the Christohuroh Associati in Club in Sydenham Park to« d.vy, and won by 2 goals to one. The Swifts were playing with tho wind in thoir favor, and had much the best of the game in the tirat spell. Cr«mp and
Deighton scored goals. On changing ends the Christchurch men plnyed up well, and kept the Swifts continually defending their \i< c. Johnstone scored a goal f>r Christchurch. The weather is rough, itintry, am wild, and .ilt hough there are occasional gleams of sunshine it is not probible it nill hold up. If the weather is fine at ettrtir.g the C J.C. will carry through iheir programme, but if rain nets in the meetiigwill be postponed. The Tr dea Council Conference resumed i his morning. Mr Slater moved, *' Tna- the Ci>nfertnce approves of the principle < f the extension of the muni" cipal franchise to all householder*, and the aboli ion of plural voting, and that the Government bo requested to bring in a Bill '0 i hat effect." Mr Judge seconded the mo- ion. Mr Ward moved as an amendmerv, "That the municipal fran* cht-e should be extended so as to place a 1 on in eqmli'y with the political franchup, and that municipal olections be held tripnninlly, all councillors retiring together." Mr M'Creath seconded the amendment. The motion was carried. On the motion of Mr JoneJ, seconded by Mr Cr*«ley, it was resolved, "That the Government be requested not to subsidise miil contractors carrying coolie find colored Uhor on their mail boats." Tho Hon. W. P. Reeves, at the reqaest of the Confeience, g*ve an address on hbor legislation." The Conference then went into committee to discasa certain questiond with Mr R«eveo.
