During the afternoon there was some improvement, and the Bitn shone out brightly whio tho Cup was run. The attendance w«a large. Chatnpago Stakei, 6 furlongs.— Bob Roy (Httrtdgo), 1 • Wallace (Gough), 2 ; Blue Cap (Huxley), 3. The other atarterswere Form and Waterfall Betting: 0 to 4 against Wallace, 7 to 2 Boy Kay, 5 to 1 the others. From an even start Wallace was first away, with Form next, bnt at the bend Bob Ray improved his position, and at the diitance post was on terms with the favorito. Down the straight the latter was under the whip, but Dan O'Brien's yonngster held his own, and won an excellent race by half a length. Time, lmin 182*ecs. The other starter* were Ruenaif, The Harvester, Blarney Stono, Oxide, Loyalty, Taranaki, Donation, Newman, Tridentato, Eureka, Bradford, ChesUjrman, lolanthus, Delaware, Sundial, Vanitaa, Lena, Queensborough, and Honor Bright, Betting : — to 1 against Blarney Stone, 8 to 1 Bradford, 10 to 1 Quiver and Cobbity, 15 to 1 Newman, Tho Harvester, and Vanitai, 16 to 1 loUnthu* and Patroness. Tho start made by the machine was a good one, "Vani* tas|bcing the first to show in front, but aa tho field swept past the stand Sundial was in command, with Vanitas next, after whom came Bradford and Cobbity, whilst Oxide was lftsti Along the back stretch Vanitas once more took up the running, with Sun* dial second, and at the bend was going strong, but hero The Harvester challenged him. The effort, however, was only momentary, as he soon died away again. Coming down the straight Cobbity and Quiver, who held a good position on tho rails, appeared to have the race in hand, and as they were gradually improving their position lookod as if one would gain the coveted prize, but inside the distance Patroness crept up on the leaders, and after a clinking race with them won by a neck, Cobbity a good third, the others bunched. Time, 3mins 38£secs. First Steeplechase, 2£ mile*. — Highborn 11, lOst 71bs, 1 ; Reckless, Oit 12lbs, 2 ; Ballyhooley, lOst, 3. Ten horses started. Most of the field fell. A great race batween Highborn and Dart to the last fenco, whero the latter came down, allowing tho winner to walk in. Time, smins 40*«cs. Nursery Handicap, 5 furlong*. — Truo Blue, Bst Clbs, 1 ; Milan*, Bit 81ba, 2 ; Miss Nora, 7at 2lbs, 3. Seveonteen horae* started. Won easily by two langths. Time, lmia ssecs.
