RAILWAY AND POSTAL ARRANGEMENTS.
(To the Editor of the North Ota^o Times.) Sir, — As a good doal of doubt exists at present as to the time of departure of the trains, more especially on the Palmerston section of railway, I would suggest to the railway authorities tho neco«sity of advertising tho time table a little oftonor than is done at present ; this also applies to tho Post Office, as regards the closing of tho different mails. Thoro is another matter as regards tlv« Post Office that calls for alteration. The afternoon mail for Ohristchurch and tho north closes at 3.30 p.m., one hour before the departure of the trains. Surely, half an hour is any amount of timo to make up the mail and tako it to the railway station— that is if tho clerks in tho oflice are up to their work. I believe tho mail in Dunodin closos about half an hour before tho departure of tho train taking sumo. I remain, &c., Henry Connell.
