The roport of the 20th annual meeting of the above ■hows the progress of the Society during the past year, which will bo interesting to many of our readers. During the 12 months ending 31st December, 1877, there have been 7474 proposals received, of which 2324 wero declined, leaving 5150 pro* posals accepted and completed, assuring L 1,880,070., 880,070. The new premium income amounts to L 78.205 17s 5(1. Tho total amount of claims paid, including bonus additions and seven endowment assurances, which have also matured, together with L 10.757 13s 4d bonus Additions, is LI 19,932 13s 4d. There are 30,475 existing policies, assuring LI 1,741,954. The annual income !■ L 534.053 4s 10d, of whioh LI 29,000 0s lid is received for interest Mono. The revenue account shows that the Society has 12,2(59,892 2s of accumulated funds, and tho statement of liabilities and assets shows that this largo fund is safely and carefully invested in tho different Colonial Government debentures.
