CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
Tho following \a the report for the week ending Thursday evening, May 3 :—: — Wheat. — Since last week's report tho wheat market shows signs of improvement. There ia a fair domand for good milling samples at 4s 4d to 4% fid per bushel. For really prime lots a shade over this price could bo obtained. Tuscan wheat is very firm at 4s O'd per bunhol, with several .enquiries to operate Tho business for tho week has been very limited. Malting Barloy. — There are fow transnotions to report. First-class malting barloy is firm at fls per bushel. There is an oxport demand at this quotation. Tho price tor medium samples is nominal. Oats.' — Tho domand is slack, with very few enquiries, excopt for good milling oats. This class may be quoted at 3s 8d per bushel. For fair feed oats, it ia very questionable if 3s Od per bushol could bo obtained. , Grais Seeds. — Tho supply, although very limited, is equal to the domand. Good samples of ryo grass would command 6s per bushel, with a free sale. Cocksfoot is not so firm, and cannot bo quoted at over (id per lb. Potatoes. — Very few aro offering. Tho farmers are very busy completing forward contracts. 45a per ton is freely offered, without leading to a ready sale on the part vi the sellers.
