SAMOAN NEWS. (Via Auckland.) (Per Press Agency.) Auckland, May 7.
Tho schooner Mazeppa, from Samoa, reports that tho Samoan fino was not paid without trouble. Twenty-four hours elapsed without any answer being given by tho Native Government, and at tho end of that time Captain Murray, of tho Sappho, informed them that if the LlOOO balanco of tho Barracouta monoy was not paid before one p.m. on tho following Monday, ho would first destroy all tho Government property at Mullin ; thon, if satisfactory arrangements were not como to, ho would destroy the othsr villages and increase his demands. This appears to have stirred them up, for on the following Monday tho LIOOO was duly paid.
