London, April 30. The area of the Lancashire strike is extending. A mill owner was mobbed at Preston. The weavers propose a mixed Board of Arbitrators, under the presidency of the Bishop of Manchester. The employers refuse. Pauls, May 1. The Exhibition was opened to-day by Marshall MacMahon with great eclat. The opening ceremonial was very imposing. Representatives were present from all nations, and trom several of the British Colonies. The attendance wai very great, although it was raining. The interior presented a grand spectacle, and altogether the Kxhibition surpassed that of 18GG. The Colonial courts are well filled, and excite much interest. Victoria is best represented, exhibiting its progress and the multiplicity of its resources. The show of wools is very good. The Prince of Wales presented the Colonial Commissioners to Marshal MacMahon. Paris is crowded with visitors from all parts of the world. London, May 3. England assents to the Austrian occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Austria refuses Russia's advanoes and acts separately. Some working men mobbed the Bromley Unionist Committee and assaulted the Blackburn Committee for refusiug relief during the strikt to non-unionists. Two thousand men at thp North British Railway struck against the increase of the working hours from 51 to 04 per week. The Duke of Connaught's betrothal to the Princess Louise, daughter of Prince Frederic Charles of Germany, takes place on May 9th.
