Messrs Bhown, Sun'ON, and Co. repo.j holding thoir usual fortnightly salo of ljorses, &c, on Saturday, at M 1M 1 Kays Yards. There was a fair attondanco of buyer*, tho compotition being l>risk. Medium draughts brought from L 32 to Ti 3"), hacks, Lll to Ll2 10s; second-hand doublo buggy, L 22 10s.

TIMARU.— The "Ilorald" of Saturday reports : — The groin market still continues vory inftctivn, and outs especially show a weaker tendency. Very few deliveries havo taken place during tho week, and farmers generally seem inclined rather to stack thoir produce than to sell at tho present low rates. The heavy rain which foil on Tuesday last has freshened up tho pasture lands very much, and also softened the ground for ploughing ; but it will requiro three or four flays steady downpour to satisfy farmers' requirements. Different quotations in grain nro again very wido. Ono merchant quotes a> follows -.—Tartarian oats (feed), 3s 3d ; heavy Canadian ditto, 3a fld j wheat, 4s ; barley, 4a to 4s Oil. Another mentions 3s lOd to 4s for wheat ; 3s 4d for oats j and barley as nominal ; while the rest givo something like 3a lOd to 4s for wheat j and 2s 10d to 3s Id for oats. Tho only sales of barley which we can hear of have been for malting purposes. Potatoes are at 47s (Jd. Latest advices from Melbourno stato that tho markets thero for both breadstuff's and feeding grains have furthor declined. ADELAIDE,— Tho "South Australian Mail " reports on tho grain market for the week ending 20th April, as follows :— The trado of the week hns been almost entiroly confined to small transaction*, with ono oxception — we refer to tho sain of a cargo of 60,000 bushels at Port Pirie anchorago at 6s 7d. At Port Adolaido wo hear of no tales of shipping parcels. For farmers' lots 6s 6d to 0s 7d is tho highest figuro obtain* nblo, and buyors don't appear anxious to operate at these prices. At length our agricultural statistics have been published, and the result is not so disappointing as was expected. Tho yiold is 9,024.(592 bushels, as against 5,857,5(59 bushels last year, representing a gain to the colony of fully three-quarters of a million sterling, tho averago per aero being 7$ bushels. This gives us Bomo 105,000 tons to export, of which about 72,000 tons have been shipped already, and leaves 03,000 tons yet to go, a quantity fully equal to our total export last year.
