Oamaru Times Office, Wednesday Evening.
The wool shearing of this season may be said to have concluded with the month of February. Considerable quantities of wool, however, still continue to arrive, and will probably do so for some time to come. The Gazehound, our remaining wool ship of the season, is taking in her home freight. She has received on board about 400 bales. The "Daily Mail" says: — "'The barque Malay was towed out to sea on the 22nd February, and got a good offing, sighting the P.C.E, abreast this port 15miles off. Captain Peters was attended by numerous friends bidding farewell to him. He has for the last thirteen months been trading between this and the port of Newcastle. We wish him a prosperous voyage to the home country. This is the third wool ship that has left for London this season." The weather continues dry and warm, and is well suited for completing harvest operations. The rain spoken of at Dunedin and elsewhere has not visited this quarter.
