CROWN LANDS. Notice to Purchasers of Land under the " Otago Land Regulations of 1st April, 1856." rilHE Decision of the Supreme Court in the I matter of the Attorney-General v. Jones, having been given in favor of the Crown, the attention of purchasers of land under the " Otago Land Regulations, 1856," is directed to the following clause of the " Waste Land Act, 1863," No. 2 : — FOKMEB APPLICANTS MAY COMPOUND — TAKE PART — OF HIS LAND — OB COME UNDER THIS ACT. VIII. Any person ttIio at any time before the passinsr of this Act shall have applied for the purchase of laud, uuder the Land Regulations then in force, and shall have obtained from the Waste Land Board a certificate entitling him to take possession of the land specified in his application, but who shall not have expended on such land Forty Shillings per Acre in Improvements, so as to entitle him to a Crown Grant thereof, under the said Regulations, (hereinafter styled a " former purchaser,"; in ay elect to do any one of the following things : — COMPOUND. 1. To pay to the Receiver of Land Revenue, at his office, a sum of money equal to ten shillings per aero on the quantity of land comprised in his certificate, and be entitled forthwith to a Crow n Grant in fee simple, free from conditions. TAKE PART OF HIS LAND. 2. To take a Crown Grant in fee simple, without conditions, for two-thirds in value of the land comprised in such certificate, to be ascertained to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands. COME UNDER THIS ACT. 3. To take a Crown Grant in fee simple, subject to the tax imposed by this Act, and the provisions hereof relatms thereto, OTHERWISE TO STAND ON THEIR RIGHTS. IX. Any such former purchaser who Bhall not, within six months after the coming into operation of this Act, elect to do any one of the after-mentioned things, and signify the same in writing: to the Waste Land Board, shall be deemed to have decided to stand upon his rights, and to remain subject to his liabilities, as thoutrh this Act had not been passed. The attention of such purchasers is further directed to the fact that the "Waste Land Act, 1863," No. 2, came into force on the 20th Sept., 1861-," consequently the period within which a purchaser can elect to do any of the things set forth in sub-clauses 1, 2, and 3 of Section VIII., will expire on the 20th day of March next. OTEPOPO HUNDREDS. ALL Holders of Licenses to Depasture Stock on the above Hundreds, are hereby required to forward to the Wardens, on or before the Fifteenth day of MARCH next, a Return showing the number and description of all Stock above the age of six mouths at that date, belonging to, or under the charge of, each of them, which they are depasturing on the Hundreds during the current 3 ear, together with their respective brands, as per annexed schedule. For the Wardens, WM. C. WHITEHEAD, Secretary. Otepopo, Feb. 28th, 1865. N.B. — A penalty of not more than £5 -will be incurred by any person or persons neglecting to make the above return, or making a false one. Any person wishing to depasture Sheep on the Hundred, must first obtain the consent (in writing) of the Wardens, before they will be allowed to do so. Schedule Referred to Above. Return of Stock, above six months old, depastured on the Otepopo Hundreds, on the 10th day of March, 1865.

OTEPOPO HUNDREDS. fTlENDERS will be received by the Wardens I of the above Hundreds, till the Fifteenth day of MARCH next, from persons willing to undertake the office of RANGER from that date to the 3lst December of the current year. The duties of the Ranger will be to see that no cattle belonging to unlicensed persons are depastured on the Hundreds, to be prepared to impound the same, subject to the consent of the Wardens ; to be ready at any time, on a complaint from any licenseholder, to impound any dangerous or vicious animal ; and generally to overlook the interests of the license-holders in the Hundreds. Persons tendering for the above, to state the rate at which they will undertake these duties, providing their own horse. Tenders to be addressed to the Wardens of the Otopopo Hundred. Th& Wardens do nob bind themselves to accept the lowest or any tender. For the Wardens, WM. C. WHITEHEAD, Secretary. Otepopo, Feb. 28th, 1865.
